Roberta L. Buell is Managing Partner in Sausalito Healthcare Partners and a consultant in Oncology Reimbursement. For the last fifteen years, she has worked almost exclusively with oncology coding and oncology drug reimbursement.  Over 3000 practice managers and clinics have read her newsletter since 1991. She has presented over 300 reimbursement management seminars since 1991 for physicians, managers, nurses, patients, pharmacists, drug representatives, drug executives, and venture capitalists. Her web site has over 10,000 registered users.

Until July 1, 2003, Ms. Buell was President & CEO of Documedics, which is now part of the Lash Group Healthcare Consultants. Documedics’ had contracts to provide reimbursement services including hotlines, financial counseling, and consulting to over fifteen pharmaceutical and biotech companies in oncology.  These companies included Ortho Biotech, Novartis Oncology, Wyeth, Schering Oncology-Biotech, Millennium, MGI Pharma, and Pharmion. With more than 30 years of healthcare experience, Ms. Buell’s background includes registration, financial counseling, clinical field trials of antineoplastic agents, CPT coding, medical office management, medical records management, utilization review, and drug marketing. Ms. Buell started her career in clinical administration at Barnes Hospital-Washington University School of Medicine, Massachusetts General hospital, and Stanford University Medical Center. After employment as a consultant with 2 “Big Six” firms, Ms. Buell became an independent consultant, which led to incorporation of her company, Documedics, in 1988. 

She is a member of the American Academy of Procedural Coders, the American Health Information Management Association, Assembly of Hematology Oncology Administrators, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the Association of Community Cancer Centers.

Ms. Buell received her BA degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and her MBA degree from Stanford University, Palo Alto, California.
